Hey folks, Harry here. Every week there are writing projects floating around Hollywood seeking writers that... are in the loop. Folks with agents, people with connections. Meetings are taken, and if you have enough suave... Well you get to hack away at the project. Now sometimes some very good writing comes from this... however, sometimes the writer takes the job merely to pay the bills with no real passion towards the material at all. I know I know... Hard to believe but true. Well, Sheena, our queen of the LA Jungle has forwarded us on some very... interesting projects that are currently being tossed around. I'll comment on some of them below...

I recently stumbled across a list of open writing assignments that have been making their way around Hollwoodland. These are projects that are seeking screenwriters to pen the script. Probably not a major scoop, but thought you might find it interesting.

Some of the more potently cool titles are:

1. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (Buena Vista)
Producers: Ivan Reitman, Roger Birnbaum and Charlie Peters

Can you imagine how much fun this project could be?

2. Aeon Flux (Paramount)

Can you imagine if Tom Tykwer got his hands on directing this project with Franka Potente? Pretty darn awesome potential. Sigh... One can dream can't they?

3. Barbarella (Warner Bros.)
Producers: Ben Myron, Drew Barrymore, Nacy Juvonen.
Executive Producer: Stephanie Savage

WHOA! Drew Barrymore? She's involved? I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, she's a doll, she can do that vacuous 'Ok let's fuck' stare, but... Gosh, I don't know. But ya know? The concept that this property is in development just gets me giggly. In my dreams... on a sick and twisted planet, I'd stand back in awe and watch Paul Verhoeven truly pervert this property to his own twistedly perversity. Heh heh

4. GI Joe (Warner Bros.)
Producer: Larry Kasanoff

I can't allow myself to think that anything good can come of this. I love the original cartoon. I love my toys. Ultimately I'd love a PIXAR CGI film about a planet where GI JOE dolls really do run the world and we'd see them running around, kicking ass and constantly warring. But then... that's just the dream I have after playing with my original Joes. Of course Cobra Command... Man, the movie could, if done right, erase all stains of that Hasselhoff NICK FURY tv thing.

Hahahahahah, I knew it! I knew it would finally happen. It was simply too logical. I've been saying for years that Eddie Murphy would end up remaking the Peter Sellers films, cause if there was a comedian most like him, it would be Peter Sellers. Of course we never really get to see Murphy take on the serious material that Sellers did, but then... that would be someone like Robin Williams or Jim Carrey. Well, I think this might be a good choice for a remake. The original hasn't aged as well as it should, and my favorite Eddie Murphy movies are the ones where he plays at least 4 characters.
