Hey folks, Harry here... well the last time Barry Sonnenfeld based a feature film on a existing literary work he got GET SHORTY, which alongside THE ADDAMS FAMILY stands as his best work (in my opinion).... so this time out he decided to make a film from the hysterically funny Dave Barry (remember that Harry Anderson tv show based on this fella?) and his first novel, BIG TROUBLE, which was a damn fine read. Sounds like it is working, but this is a very early test screening... as the film won't come out till (AT THE SOONEST) mid summer and possibly this Fall. Here's the Pop Icon with the details....

The Pop Icon here, I just got back from a Test Screening for a movie called " Big Trouble", By Barry Sonnenfeld, starring Tim Allen .They told us not to write reviews...but no press is bad press right ?
Big Trouble ( HORRIBLE TITLE! CHANGE IT!) isnt all that Earth shattering, but it did have Jason Lee who was pretty funny, and the I believe Johnny Knoxvile's ( MTV's Jackass ) first movie role...Heres something of a review..with possible spoilers.( you were warned)
The Plot
...Uh......Its a little confusing, Tim Allen, is in Miami , with his kid...His Kid knows Rene Russo's daughter...Rene Russo is married to Stanley Tucci ( AWESOME! ), Stanley Tucci is being hunted by Dennis Farina, who plays a hitman...Jason Lee is a Homeless guy who likes fritos, who moves to Miami and lives in a tree ( yup.) Wackiness ensues....And to save his life Stanley Tucci, buys a bomb...Then 2 really dumb criminals ( Johnny Knoxville, and Tom Sizemore ) ...Kidnap Him..and the Bomb , of course they dont know its a bomb...let alone a....
wait for it...
NUCLEAR BOMB!. More Wackiness and chases' ensue...Also in the mix are Janeane Garofolo, and Patrick Warburton as cops always 2 steps behind . Then theres Omarr Epps, and Heavy D (!) as FBI agents ...looking for the bomb...Also a REALLY hot love interest for Jason Lee, and a Dog that is a afraid of a huge Toad, because it spits hallucinagins at him,to make hime chase his tail, ... the dog thinks his tail is a steak... I shit you not ....MORE wackiness ensues and it all ends with a bang in a airplane.
Good
....Actually it was Soooooo fast paced that if it REALLY sucked, i didnt notice...Me and my operatives laughed alot....Dennis Farina, and his partner were great ..as were Johnny Knoxville, and Tom Sizemore. Stanley Tucci was also a riot.
Bad
....they actually fucking used that fucking song " who let the dogs out"....LOSE IT BARRY! & THE FUCKING TITLE!!!!! BIG TROUBLE????!!!!!!!...just dumb, it sounds like direct to video Crap, which it really isnt.
The Best
Best part was the really small but, REALLY FUCKED UP subplot about the Toad Vs The Dog...Probably worth seeing in the afternoon just for that shit..just fucking weird.. just weird...wanted 2 more hours of just this stuff
The Verdict
Well....tuff call...as it stands now...its worth seeing in the afternoon, if your a lil nervous about it, and you might be (just try to forget Wild Wild West, shutter shutter) Its a Fun Moronic Screwball Comedy , but if the lil bits about The Toad Vs The Dog Subplot are cut...DONT GO!....There Fucking Funny..
