Pratt plays “Meet the Chens”! Plus Rocket Romano’s back, and this time he’s got a hook! Here’s “Mr. Zambano” with the many exciting details:
Episode 10.3: "Dear Abby"
Luka is brought in on a gurney. Abby really wants to see him-- so badly
that
she is torn between doing her job, and chasing him up the hallway.
Romano is also back, with a hook, not his prosthetic of choice. His
insurance wouldn't cover the "Utah Arm" unless the hook interferes with
his
work, and it does. It makes him angrier, and especially defensive when
coworkers comment. It makes little girls stare.
He visits Weaver in her office to complain, and lets the hook drag
across
her antique table on the way out the door, leaving a scratch.
The nurses circulate a petition, and stage a walkout, which amounts to
a
reeeaally long break. Romano wants to fire or suspend everyone. Abby
absorbs
the extra work due to their shortness of staff.
Connie tells Romano: "You're the one who's going to be leaving."
Carter breaks up with Abby via a letter. She balls the letter up,
tosses it
to the trash can, and misses. Frank takes the initiative to pass it
around.
Abby is given a stool sample in a plastic baggie, and a lot of unwanted
advice: Edna calls Carter a putz, and remarks that too bad she didn't
dump
him first. Pratt tells her it's Carter's loss.
Jerry joins in the gossip. Romano attempts to read the letter out loud
in
front of everyone, but Abby snatches it out of his hand before he can
finish.
Weaver comes down to speak to Romano about inappropriate behavior.
Abby takes out her job frustrations on her coworkers and patients.
At one point, a 15-year old boy who has been shot by his mother is
brought
in. When the boy's brother tries to cover for their mother, Abby tries
to
convince the family to do the right thing. Abby herself was about to do
the
wrong thing -- ready to crack the patient's chest open herself against
protocol, and is told about it by Susan. The boy dies.
Medical student Nick Cooper has an asthma attack. Neela gives him 10
times
more medication than he needs. He goes into cardiac arrest, and Abby
has to
shock him with the paddles to return his heartbeat to normal. "Coop"
does
not want to go home. He wants to help Susan with a patient. He wants to
have
a few beers with Pratt after work.
Pratt has plans with Chen. Chen has plans of her own, and surprises
Pratt
with her parents: waiting for them at the table, at an upscale Chinese
restaurant. This does not go over well with anyone. Pratt wants to run
away.
Mr. Chen makes fun of him in Mandarin, and doesn't hide his
disapproval.
Dorset (remember him from last season?) makes an appearance downstairs,
to
amuse Elizabeth and save a life. In a subsequent episode we find out
Doreset
and Lizzy are dating.
