Rob Zombie’s mad at us.

I know he’s told several people that Quint’s review of his script for HALLOWEEN was bullshit, and that Quint doesn’t get what he’s doing, and that he totally misunderstood. In Quint's defense, I think that was a largely constructive review, and I know that Quint was speaking as a long-time fan of the character and the series.

I also know that some people who have been telling Zombie how much they like the script to his face are singing a different tune behind his back. Which isn’t cool. I think he’s going to make the film he wants to make, and that’s exactly what it should be. I just don’t think it’s a film I want to see.

I’m torn. I get what he wants to do. His script is the classic story of an American serial killer. Michael is a sympathetic little boy, even when he’s Taylor Mane. And when he kills, he’s like a grizzly bear. John Carpenter’s original film is a classic because of the way it suggests great violence while showing next to nothing. Zombie’s film reads as the exact opposite, and that’s certainly a strong stylistic choice.

But I don’t like his script. Of course, I think HALLOWEEN is a perfect film. So I think I’m probably not his audience. I think I’m just a grumpy old purist, and that’s that.

I personally can’t wait for WEREWOLF WOMEN OF THE SS, and wish that was the feature-length film Rob was making at the moment. I’ll take the trailer, though.

In the meantime, if you’re pumped about HALLOWEEN, then you’ll be excited to see what Bloody-Disgusting put up this morning:
