This is going to be one special movie.

You can whinge about Johnny 5 or E.T. all you like right now, but based on what I’ve seen, I’m prepared to go on record as predicting this will be the single biggest movie at the box-office in 2008. I think this is going to connect for people on a global scale in a way we see once in a long, long while.

If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but I doubt it. We’ve still got half a year till the film premieres, of course, so all of this is just hypothetical at the moment. I will say that I think Disney and Pixar are doing a good job so far of selling the character instead of a high-concept premise. Ultimately, WALL·E is who we’re going to be in that theater to see. There are no movie stars here, so we have to be invested in WALL·E himself by the time we sit down and the lights go dark in the theater.
