MeeVee guide listings (my favorite, they seem to load faster than TV Guide, though they probably have the same source of information) Has a short preview clip showing one of the events mentioned in the invisotext. Nice to see Bernard get to do something kinda cool for a change. No, I'm not telling you what it is, but go log in to MeeVee and click on the lost listing to see the clip.

The real fanatics that kept the "I thought we were going on a Rescue Mission" talkback alive since the last "Lost" episode over a month ago

http://www.aintitcool.co m/node/36074

got so heavily into it that one of their number, a much cool fella by the name of 4we8have15to16go23back42, (and several other talkbackers helping out) actually went ahead and started a Lost fan blog. And not just to see his name on screen either, the point was to have a place to post invisotexted spoilers and keep the Lost talk backs here at AICN relatively spoiler free. It's a good read, there's some interesting, and some funny, stuff over there if you're interested in checking it out. It's called "Room 23". Here.

"Shape Of Things To Come" written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. From the movie "Wild In The Streets". Recorded by Dave Allen and the Arrows with actor Christopher Jones on lead vocals, released under the name of the films fictional band "Max Frost and the Troopers" (later covered by The Ramones on their album "Acid Eaters"

There's a new sun - Risin' up angry in the sky - And there's a new voice - Sayin' "we're not afraid to die" - Let the old world make believe - It's blind and deaf and dumb - But nothing can change the shape of things to come

There are changes - Lyin' ahead in every road - And there are new thoughts - Ready and waiting to explode - When tomorrow is today - The bells may toll for some - But nothing can change the shape of things to come

The future's comin' in, now - Sweet and strong - Ain't no-one gonna hold it back for long

There are new dreams - Crowdin' out old realities - There's revolution - Sweepin' in like a fresh new breeze - Let the old world make believe - It's blind and deaf and dumb - (But) nothing can change the shape of things - nothing can change the shape of things - nothing can change the shape of things - nothing can change the shape of things - To come

Los Endos - regarding non-centric eps
by Napoleon Park
Apr 24th, 2008
03:24:39 AM
I wasn't sure what you meant by non-centric until I reread the article. The final three episodes of the season will be a one hour followed after a one week hiatus with a two hour, which cumulatively will be considered the three-hour season finale episode. there won;t be any major flashes, fore or back, focused on any one specific character because these will be major "game changer" episodes dealing with ALL of the characters - the Oceanic Six characters who get off the island and possibly the fate of, well, pretty much everybody else. Whether they remain on the island or... not. That's not too spoilery, is it? Everyone who watched the show already knows the Oceanic Six gets off and, well, every day you wake up you either live or die, right? What else is there? To predict that certain characters "will either live or die," well, that's about as vague as it gets, right?

But that's what the non-centric episodes are all about - they deal with everyone, not just one specific character.

SPOILER this is a reply to the part of the Invisotexted [tm] article labeler SUPERSPOILER, that asked one specific question which included a key Lost character's year of birth as part of the question. If you didn't read the question, this answer won't mean anything to you so you may as well skip over it.

I would think "Holy crap, that crazy old coot is less than a year older than me? Dang, I am getting so flipping old..."

Actually, I don't think I've really been spoiled yet, just teased. I know bits and pieces about what will happen, but have no clue to the meanings behind these events or how they fit together.

Not only is it finally back (YES!) but just as Lost has always been, it sounds like the final episodes will be an amazing experience. None of them being 'centric' means that something will actually take three episodes to explain, which is awesome. As for the spoiler above - If he was around in 1952, we could have guessed that pretty easily. They were all sold on Locke. Ben was the only one that was kind of like "Why are we giving this guy a chance again?"

and I was on the island. I went into this big, round room with a bunch of donkeys on a wheel. They were alive, but frozen, still. Each donkey had a year on it and I grabbed the one that said 1976. I got on, and it came to life, leading me out of the room and through a door to a specific path. When I was at the end of the path, I was in Oregon, at the train station, and the "freedom train" was there. It was obviously 1976, due to the hairstyles. I got on the freedom train and the conveyor belt that carried people through the thing had broken down and everyone was just walking through the exhibit. I woke up before I got to sign the duplicate of the Declaration of Independence. So there's your frozen donkey wheel. I doubt that spoils anything. If their frozen donkey wheel is anything like mine, a lot of people are in big, big trouble.

Looking forward to tonight's exciting installment!
My theory on Jacob
by siatrisx
Apr 24th, 2008
11:11:15 AM
Jacob is not one person. It is whoever's time travelling. We saw Christian Sheppard in the chair. Interviewed, Jorge Garcia said he filmed a scene where HE was in the chair instead. I think the eye we saw belongs to Desmond. All this to say, when someone's counsciouness is travelling in time/space, either they end up in the shack for a moment, or a part of them does. And, Ben Linux cannot SEE Jacob, therefore he doesn't know it's not always the same person/ghost. Ideas ?

I like that your thinking. I just dont think thats it. Not like anyone actually knows what "it" is. I think Jacob has always been 1 person. Maybe its older Locke. Maybe its older Walt. Or maybe fuck, its just Jacob. Im assuming the 4 people on the island that have some sort of powers are Locke, Walk, Jacob, and Ben. Maybe its a Lady In The Water deal where they all have their own ability and Bens is the shittiest thats why he envys Locke. And he does envy Locke. I would too. Hes handsome. If Jacob was just a chair with people traveling through time I dont see how Ben would fear that. That make any sense? However I do agree that it did kinda look like one of Desmonds squirley looking eye balls. And anytime Ben is pissing you off too much just watch the end of Saw 1. I swear that actor has faked more punches to the face than Chuck Norris. Because nobody hits Chuck Norris. Because nobody is that stupid. He lit a fart on fire once in the Sahara Forest.

What a surprise. He'd much rather the Heroes version, im sure, where we see a future, have an episode or two devoted to it, and then have it completely be disregarded and changed so we've effectively wasted all of the time spent with this plotline.

Lost has balls. It has the balls to kill of characters, to say, this future sucks, but there is no changing it. DEAL with it.

Heroes on the other hand, says "whoops! Just kidding! none of that stuff really happens!!"

I recall once reading a paranormal theory about ghosts -- that they're not spirits of the dead who are trapped in a building... but that the building or area itself is situated in a spot where multiple timelines criss-cross. So if you are in a building that is "haunted", it's actually people in the past whose timeline is bleeding over into the present (their future). Anyway, I'm reminded of that theory when considering Jacob and The Cabin. It ties in with all the funky time issues with the island.

Just settle right back in front of your televisions or set your VCR or TiVo

A tale of a fateful trans-oceanic airline flight

That started from Sydney, Australia

Aboard Oceanic Airlines Flight 815.

The Pilot Seth Norris was an inexperienced substitute,

Cindy the stewardess dutiful and suspicious.

324 passengers set sail that day

For a journey to Los Angeles, California, USA.

* * * * *

The weather was clear but because a button was not pushed a pent-up electro-magnetiic force of incalcuable magnitude was unleashed,

The aircraft was torn into three main pieces, the cockpit, mid-section fuselage and the tail (and the wings were ripped off, never a good sign when you're flying),

Due to a malfunction of the navigational system,

Flight 815 was 1000 miles off course, and it was very...

The midsection and tail set ground on or near the shore of this uncharted but surprisingly not deserted isle

With alcoholic surgeon Jack Shephard,

angry cripple John Locke too,

The multimillionaire lottery winner Hugo Reyes,

vengeful con-man James Ford,

drug addicted one-hit wonder rock star Charlie Pace,

former Iraqi Republican Guard torturer Sayid Jarrah,

pregnant goth chick Claire Littleton,

The US Marshal and his patricidal prisoner,

The son of a Korean fisherman and his unfaithful wife,

a complete bitch and her incestuous step-brother,

the estranged father seeking to reconnect with his son,

the dentist and his dying of cancer wife,

the bad cop and the stewardess,

The television starlet and her jewel thief boyfriend,

The high school science professor

and Mr. Eko, Scott, Steve, Sullivan, Lance, Tracy, Libby, Neil, Joanna, Emma, Zach and several dozen more

plus The Others, Adam & Eve, the crazy French woman and her kidnapped daughter, the Dharma Initiative, the pirates of the Black Rock, the Nigerian drug smugglers, the Scots boat-racer living under the Hatch, the Widmore science team and the Freighties, (and believe it or not dozens of other peripheral characters important to their stories both in their pasts and in the future,)

The Ballad of the Lost Talk-Back.

.

Just sit right back and you'll read some entertaining commentary,

About a wonderful television program

possibly the greatest show ever,

but that's for history to decide.

.

It begins when an article is posted

on the day of the new episode

the talkback rages for a day or two

and continues until the following episode

(or until it hits 10000 posts, whichever comes first)

.

The discourse can start getting rough,

foul languange may be tossed,

and strongly worded opinions,

about this show called LOST, about a show called LOST.

.

The talk-backs already underway,

With founder Harry Knowles, and moderator Hercules

The blogger and his helpers,

there are avid fans, casual viewers, would be critics, humorists, pundits, wits and half-wits, spoilers, trolls, flamers, punks, some nice folks and some creeps,

It may be perfectly safe to download a specific file that has been seeded by a reliable and trustworthy source. And it might be possible to acquire the P2P file sharing programs needed to do this without having it bundled with adware, spybots or other malicious coding.

But be aware that downloading "free" entertainment this way can be addictive. You might think that as long as you have the resources and the opportunity you may as well just download one more show, comic or song... and another, and another. And if you're unlucky you just may acquire some nastiness that will slow down your computer's response time or freeze it up all together, require a complete system recovery or, worse, the purchasee of a replacement computer.

Of course it won't happen to you. It's always "the other guy."

I'm sure Ed S. can speak for himself on this, but he's no pirate. Se legally acquires a single digital copy of a television episode for his own private personal use, and this use includes sharing with friends. Stretching the definition of "private use" and "friends" to include seeding to peer-to-peer file sharing torrents to provide free copies of copyrighted material to 100s of strangers may or may not be within the exact letter of the law - that's for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to decide, and frankly I'd hope they have better things to do. But there is no profit involved - P2P simply involves fans sharing material they enjoy with fellow fans or "peers" (and sometimes getting other things they enjoy, such as other programs - and things they may not enjoy, such as computer viruses, worms, spyware, adware and malware - in exchange). But generally these things have cash value only to the shows creators and copyright owners, so no money is exchanged or stolen, and therefore no crime is committed. The same way that murder or rape are legal unless you get paid to do it. Actually I'm not certain about that last point - I'm no lawyer, so don't take my word for it. I hope that clears that matter up so we can get back to discussing Lost.

He's not going to do crime stuff just to make the cool kids think he used to be one of them. If he thought there was anything legally or morally wrong with freely file sharing copyrighted material do you think he'd be discussing it in a public forum? That would be ka-razy. Speaking of crazy, what's that like, Eve?

AngelCordy - regarding killing off the Lost women

Angelcordy wrote: "Dear Lost STOP KILLING OFF ALL THE GIRLS. :("

Well, I had some concerns about that myself, but after mentioning them in a previous talkback it was pointed out to me that "Lost" kills off cast members of both genders at a relatively comparative rate.

After giving it some thought I realized that while life on The Island may be brutal for people of both sexes, the writers of Lost at least are somewhat merciful when it comes to the distaff slayings. The male characters are blown up (Arzt. Mikhail, the Others attacking the beach tents), drowned (Charlie), ripped up (Scott), shredded and left hanging in a tree (Seth Norris the pilot), beaten against trees and the ground like a rag doll (Mr. Eko), skull-cracked on the rocks (Kelvin), killed during surgery following a small ironic plane crash (Boone), executed while captive (Ethan Rom, Tom Friendly), sucked into a freaking turbine engine (Gary Troup), run over by the Dharma van and so on. all pretty horrific, brutal ways to go. Now I'm not saying a gut-shot isn't painful, but with the women, well Sherrif Isabel of The Others was blown up (off camera) during the attack at the tents and Joanna and Regina drowned (both presumed suicides). Naomi was murdered with a knife, but pretty much all the other women (Shannon, Ana Lucia, Libby, Mrs. Klugh, Bonnie and Greta, Danielle and (possible spoiler - ***x) are all taken out quickly by gunshot. Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang.

I forgot to include paralyzed by spiders and then buried alive (Nikki and Paulo) but then that was pretty much evenly divided by gender too, wasn't it?

don't allow DISCUSSION of file sharing. This isn't your world, buddy(pal, friend). We don't have power hungry USERS modding the talkback. Chaos? Sometimes. Banning people for DISCUSSING something? Rarely. So far. And try to remember this is TV, not movies or music. In this case, and most cases, we're talking still about free, over the air programming. Everyone else? We have cable or satellite. You wanna know why I'd rather download than watch live (which I do anyway with Lost)? Because in my market, it comes to my TV in

FULL SCREEN.

It looks cheap and crappy. Anyone that has some kind of "moral issue" with downloading a free TV show they most likely already pay for in some form already is a douche and has fully drank the kool-aid. Congratulations, you've got industry lawyers up your ass puppeteering you. Don't be a coward.

Now, if this were a talkback about Iron Man, and someone was talking about how they have a perfect copy of the film up on TPB, I wouldn't be surprised (or shocked, or bothered)if someone deleted the messages and the user.

Get just slightly sophisticated about this stuff. I'm not asking you to get sophisticated on some kind of
"quit watching the factor" level,
we're talking more along the lines of
"hey, just leave that homosexual alone, ok? he wasn't bothering you"
levels.

Consider yourself schooled. Because you have been.

Hey, nice rant gotilk. I realize you were talking to the troll who suggested that in some forums discussion of P2P file sharing is banned, and not me. But we have been discussing it here. I mentioned it in posts dated 3.28.01 and 3.43.24 and those haven't been deleted, so what's the problem-o?

Someone says they acquired some copyrighted material they have no legal claim to and plan to give hundreds of copies away to strangers - fine, that's they're side of a discussion.

Someone who doesn't think the practice is fair to the creators of the material and the people they sell the copyrights of the material to replies

According to the AOL Active Security Monitor "P2P programs allow users to share files over a file sharing network. Using P2P programs increases your risk to attacks from viruses, worms and other malicious programs."

and suggests that encouraging people to engage in P2P file sharing can cause them to take chances that can endanger the health of the computers, well, that's the other side of the discussion. Discussions sometimes have opposing viewpoints.

On an unrelated topic, I know that "drink the kool-aid" is a popular slang expression meaning to blindly accept a corporate or political agenda, but it's unfortunate that it uses the trademarked brand name of the popular drink-mix Kool-Aid [tm] brand water-flavoring. Personally the Black Cherry is my favorite, but I'm acquiring a taste fore the Lime-Lemon.

And a friend of mine who has two infants tells me that the "invisible" flavors aren't just a stupid gimmick, they help prevent furniture and carpet stains.

"Oh Yeaahhh!!"

I'm not a Family Guy fan but I liked the running gag they did with Kool-aid Man. A couple times they had courtroom scenes where a verdict would be read, everyone would say "Oh No!" and then Kool-Aid Man would crash through the wall shouting "Oh yeah!" Then once it happen and the judge ordered everyone to stop saying "Oh no!"

Later a runaway car crashed through the wall of Kool-Aid Man's living room while he was reading the paper and he remarked "You know, it's not so funny when you're on the other side."

No, not you NP...

Apr 24th, 2008
07:08:39 PM
NO!! There's no issues with you at all. Everyone has an opinion on this stuff. But on Yahoo and security, they have "some learnin'" to do. There's nothing inherently more dangerous about a p2p network than any other network. As long as a user knows what full filenames are, and what a media file is and is not, they're as safe or UNsafe as anywhere else on this series of tubes we all love so much. There's nothing magically dangerous about a particular method of getting and giving files. That's FUD and should be easily spotted a mile away.(as well as debunked at every opportunity)

But on copyrighted material, I'm personally worried about all those copyrighted songs people have in their heads. The other day, someone hummed a song in an elevator and I was thinking "did he PAY for that song? Now it's in my head and I haven't paid for it!!!".. so I quickly went to itunes and found out "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" isn't on itunes.

BUT.. BUT... All kidding aside, it IS still copyrighted (TV shows) material. You got that right. But so is the radio, and taping off the radio, and the VCR. DVR is only different in that they've sanctioned it. That doesn't automagically make the VCR an illegal piece of hardware. It just makes it obsolete. Remember, they wanted VCRs to go away until they found a way to make money off them. After they started making big bucks off them, home taping didn't stop. They just stopped caring. They focused (rightly) on video pirates SELLING tapes. But with many people's line of thinking, Joe Average at home taping a show to watch it later, or asking someone to tape it for him is the same as stealing a tape from a Blockbuster, or pirating a show to sell at a swap meet. It's not. It's just not the same and no amount of arguing and discussing is going to make it the same. It's the same difference between downloading Lost and downloading some movie before it comes out. Two very different animals. But to each his own. If someone wants to watch it live, in full screen, more power to them. If someone wants to timeshift, they should be able to as well, in any way they choose. But as moral issues go, it's pretty far down on my list. I want musicians to get paid for their work, I want filmmakers to get paid. I want writers to get paid. But when I download a TV show, they still get paid and the Nielson system doesn't even count me. Why waste time worrying about something that has no effect whatsoever on the survival or success of something I watch? No effect on anything. I have the DVDs, too. I could have downloaded them. I want them because I LOVE this show. But I don't love it so much that I pretend that downloading it hurts the show somehow. Like I'm taking a nickel out of Darlton's pocket every time I have my VCR tape it and I skip over the commercials manually. Do you feel guilty for leaving the room during commercials to grab a beer? I know YOU are just teasing, but some of these people actually buy into this stuff in a big way. To them I might as well be kicking puppies and tripping old ladies. It's selective moral outrage, and in the end, just kind of goofy.

by mthrndr
Apr 24th, 2008
10:05:18 PM
Widmore worked with hanso to develop the dharma initiative to exploit the island. Ben took that away in the purge, working with the hostiles/others. Now widmore's trying to get back. ben is on a vendetta, and widmore's still looking for the island. the answers are starting to come, and the story is starting to flesh out nicely. we know how sayid started working with ben. we know ben control cerberus. we know what ben is doing off the island. what we're missing is most of the island native mythology - the lack of aging, the lack of children, the statue, the temple. I'm confident all that will come now. you can't create an episode as stellar as this and not know exactly what you're doing.

like the smoke monster unleashed. Very nice return to Lost - I missed thee. Buncha good stuff tonight. Well we know that Ben visited Widmore when he went in that room in the house, very cool. Now we have the Penelope/Desmond vs Ben line. That is going to be intense. And I finally got something right with my prediction that it was the boat people who shot Karl and Rousseau at the end of 4.8. Oh and Ben Linus can be the next Indiana Jones.

that charles widmore knew Ben when he was a kid, thats why he called him "boy" ergo he was either one of the original island inhabitants or one of the pirates who crashed (or was teleported?) on the island in the Black Rock. Makes sense. He kinda sounds like a pirate too. "that island's MINE." They also seem to have an unspoken set of rules between them, like they've been playing a private game of hide and seek for a long, long time.
So... how many people who survived the original crash are actual

Seriously. From complete ridiculousness to "Oh my God, I can't believe Ben just called Smokey!" coolness.

This episode was wildly uneven but it saved itself with the face-to-face between Ben and Widmore. Which has got me thinking:

Who else thinks that Widmore used to be on the Island many years ago...long before Ben came there? Cause I'm thinking Charles and Richard Alpert might have been on the Island circa Black Rock...if not earlier.

(If that's the case, then it would make up for the stupid multi-millionaire industrialist who wants the Island for himself! stuff.)

The hero of the series

I think, ultimately, that Hurley will end up being the hero of the show. The nuances that the writers throw into his flashbacks portray him as very innocent and pure at heart. His morality hasn't been tainted or shaken like most of the others. Also, the writers have been setting him up for something great. He deserves the ultimate payoff in the end--whether its through sacrifice or happiness. I just see a wealth of opportunity with his mental insecurities/capabilities that have been set up and purposely put on the backburner in order for something huge to occur

by Prof. Pop-Cult
Apr 24th, 2008

It was a DHARMA jacket with the nametag "Halliwax".

Maybe Widmore was the original captain of the Black Rock. (Wasn't it a slave ship?) So that makes him double evil -- a slave-ship captain. Since Widmore has been unable to return to the island, he has been growing old. He's mortal now. He doesn't want to die. That's why he wants to go back to the island. Simple as that.

And as much as I loved his flash-forward episode a couple months ago, I was a little miffed at the end when he seemed to be working for ben. but I, like most other people, made the assumption that he was somehow doing this against his will, and that ben was controlling sayid. But this episode turned that on its head. Sayid is STILL the badass I thought he was - in fact working with ben instead of for him. And the brilliance of the show is this: this can be true, and it can STILL be possible that ben is pulling the 'long con' on sayid, and used Nadia's death to manipulate sayid into WANTING to do Ben's bidding. In fact, I'm sure this is true. Ben wants to use Sayid to kill Penny, so that he doesn't have to pull the trigger. That way ben can still be 'good'. And even so, it takes nothing away from Sayid's awesomeness.
That is an A+ Episode

And I mean it by God.

Time/Spacial teleportation and the "effects" witnessed right in the first 30 seconds. Ben has quite a toy...which he leaves behind (and now can't find the island) by coming out to deal with Widdy.

We get Ben's ability to call Smokie to defend the island...though if Ben or anyone else got in it's way, it is probably unpredictable.

Ben and Widdy are locked in a game for control of that island - but the deal was, no killing family. WIddy broke the rules. No our lovely Penny is in harms way. Des and Ben have got to work this one out.

Ben IS AN ASS KICKER!!!

Ben, obviously, time traveled to the Sahara at the beginning. Him lying on the ground with his head shaking being the first clue, and then not knowing the exact year being the second. So what I am thinking is that the polar bear skeleton with the Dharma collar was a test for the time travelling equiptment. They were sending animals through because they didn't want to test on humans first. This is most likely the usage fo the orchid station, one that can transport someone to a differant place and time. Makes sense to me. Smoke monster owns man.

My Theory *** READ IT ALL***
by chaseguy17
Apr 24th, 2008
10:52:17 PM
When you enter the island, you jump 2 years into the future. When you leave the island, you jump 2 years back. (or so...heck, maybe its 108 days). Here's my thoughts on this. Charlotte found a dharma symbol in the desert of Tunisia...yet this was before Ben had escaped the island. (or was it?) This is why Ben is rich, and this is why Charles wants the island so much. If you set up satellites, equipment etc., like Ben and the others have done, you can receive television, internet and communications with the rest of the world. Think of the power you would have if you could have information 2 years ahead of time. Stock markets, gambling, etc., you could make billions. Which is what they do. They leave the island and play the market. This explains how Juliet's sister was cured from cancer so quick. Because while it seemed like such a short time...it was really two years later. So essentially, when the oceanic 6 escape the island and leave...they jump 2 years back from the time they are on the island. So the oceanic six could literally be back in the "real world" before the rescuers have even left. Ben could have buried the dharma symbol before Charlotte even left on the plane. Just something to think about...but I definitely think the rocket test that was performed a few episodes ago, that showed the huge delay was the huge indication of this. It also gives reason to why Charles wants the island so bad. Now for my sketchy hunch: Tonight when Ben went into his closet/tomb, I definitely think he went back in time. In fact...i think he went back in time and killed some of the guards that were in front of the house. Rather than have some huge discrepancy that would shatter the space time continuum, I think the smoke monster is a worm hole (similar to Donnie Darko). The smoke monster kills everyone in the present who was just killed in the past as a way to create a status quo/constant. People see people from their past with the smoke monster...because the monster is a wormhole. Everything about it is time. People see people from their past when they stare into it. This would also need to imply that somehow Eco was killed in the past, and so was the pilot. I wouldn't be surprised if we see an episode with the pilot being murdered creating huge question marks. Well hopefully my crazy theory helped answer that.
