They announced that Lex as well as Lana and some other characters were not coming back as regulars earlier this year. I was hoping at the time that they WOULDN'T add more characters to the show - and instead focus more on Clark, Lois, and the elder Luthor. I guess they didn't like that idea, cause they killed the interesting Luthor and now they are adding a bunch of other crap........meeeh.

Really? Of all the villians, they pick him? How the hell they gonna pull that off? You know they are going to end making him an alien disguised as a human. We will never see him on Smallville in his full "Doomsday" glory. Mark my words... he will appear to be a human (with glowing eyes that show the audience he is an alien, right before they go to commercial). Once in a while we will see CGI bone spikes come out of him. Oh, and he will be played by a wrestler!

and a strong brow. That's it. Yet exceptionally strong, good-looking and probably making an impression by stealing Chloe/Kara/Lois/Ma Kent/Lana (whoops, never mind)

He will then use her for bait, luring Clark to his abandoned factory before kicking seven shades of shit out of Clark. Then the series will leave a battered/dead/imprisoned Clark under Doomsday's foot while breaking for the season.

I will say this though, 7.16 "Descent" was FANTASTIC.

The year is 85232. Mankind has reached the stars, and the Earth is a very different place. Clark, still based in Smallville, has spent 15000 years driving fence posts into the ground in an effort to mark every private and political boundary on the globe with wire fencing (then it's right off to State to get that journalism degree). Will the energy he absorbed from all that sun exposure be enough contend with the powerful villains and bizarre alien races of 853rd century Earth? Decidedly human looking, all of them, except for the occasional eye glow of course... you nailed it Demode... as did dreamweaver13... Doomsday? On Smallville? The show about Superman's youth? He hasn't even freakin' put the cape on!

Smallville lost its way a long time ago. Every now and then it gets pretty dramatic and spectacular but its become so much an elseworlds show that you can forget Clark ever becoming the Superman in the costume we're all familiar with. That should have happened a few seasons back if it were ever gonna happen. Now he's simply the guy who runs fast and embarrassed about being one of the few Superheroes on his own show who still can't fly! Anyone wanting to Watch Smalville for the first time here's the bottom line: the first 3 seasons were great, had decent progression for the character and he was learning how to use his powers as they manifested each season. Then cam Season 4 and the one-time only ability to fly but it was poorly handled and they introduced Lois Lane at the same time. This killed the show because now we had both Lois and Lana in the picture yet Clark was still on this "Me and Miss Lang" crap and kept on it for the next three season while Lois simply hung around making a nuisance of herself. Don't watch past season 3, you'll only get annoyed and then more annoyed, but still want to see what happened next like some silly soap opera!
So...when are they going to give him the suit?

Yeah, there were some mishaps along the way, but even Buffy screwed up sometimes. The show is well acted and some episodes have been exellent. Also, the writers get Lex. They understand him. They write him as a cold calculating Mo'fo' and not some pantomine cheeky chappy bumbling idiot as shown in the movie. This is how Luthor should be. His character development has been a masterclass in story and characted development - and kudos to the acting. Brilliant. But now, the mention of Doomsday alarms me. Whats wrong with the show's creators? He is the mother of all villains. He turns up later in supes life - not when supes is a kid!!! What the hell is wrong with you?? Alternative universe of not - are you out of your fucking minds?? Singer fucked up superman on the big screen, why are you so intent of fucking him up on the small screen? I concur with my talkback colleagues...Doomsday will be a human model...male...and probably Clark's new best friend. Spikes will appear every so often...red yes glowing...and knowing glances to the screen at mid season point. Sigh. It's all over.

Honestly Smallville should be wrapped up now. All they need to do is end it on Lex standing for presidnet and clark finishing his training at the fortress. Simple. There is NO way that Doomsday can be in the series since his presence can only occur when Superman is at the height of his powers. WB, needs to wrap it up on a positive note. not drag it down with more seasons that just go nowhere.

This "could" be good blah blah blah. Well it's the CW. Between budget restrictions (notice how there are fewer and fewer special effects on this show) and really lazy writing (people constantly say-do things out of charecter or contracdict themselves episode to episode) so out of a season of (maybe) 22 eps 6 might be quite good or enjoyable. Doomsday will look like a human and probably only be in one or two eps as for the female villian, my money is on Mercy.

I'm surprised how many folks stuck with this show for so long, considering how off track it has gone from the Superman mythos. It's so all over the place, you might as well consider this show an alternate universe. There is NO way they can do Doomsday justice in this context - and I'm sure they'll butcher it like every other great thing they COULD have done on this show.

Im a comics junkie, and I cant think of any female villians on luthors level. Its just retarded. How hard would it be to try Solomon Grundy or even Darkseid? Because a regular shark just ain't big enough. Clark goes to Krypton! Yes, for two minutes - we see the red sun, a small planet and... One room! Nearly destroyed! Ah, the glories of Krypton on a high school drama budget! And Doomsday - really? Let's be candid - Doomsday in his first go-round was not very interesting - oh, he was interesting in that he was slowly unmasked, but in the end he was essentially The Hulk with spikes -unreasoning fury and the strength and stamina to kill Superman... How do you make this an interesting character for Smallville? Is he going to be a meteor freak that Clark accidentally makes worse? Then inexplicably the freak is sent into the future where he nurses his wounds and his hatred of Kal-el until Superman finally shows up? Why not bring Titano - he can be a talking gorilla ala George of the Jungle or Planet of the Apes... Maybe a cousin of Gorilla Grodd... He takes up residence in Luthor's mansion until exposure to kryptonite turns him into a raging King Kong wannabe... This show has some amazing moments, but mostly it is Clark whining while the world outside goes down the drain - if Pa Kent was alive he'd smack him one.

We can't even get a decent looking bigscreen Thing or from the trailer that hit last week, Hulk. What makes you think a show with aa small a budget as they have and literally no history of any creature effects would be able to pull off Doomsday? Especially one that resembled his comic form? Unless they brought in some of the Trek or Farscape (unlikely given their location) effects vets, it ain't happenin'.

The worst thing about Smallville, like Superman Returns, is that it is boring. Tom Welling is NOT Superman, or even Clark Kent. I've never bought him as either side of the character. The show had an interesting first season, but it should have stopped there. I personally don't believe Superman should even be anywhere near TV. On Screen is another thing. I hated Superman Returns, but Brandon Routh---I believed him as Supes.

Although the cartoons were before my time,Filmation's justice league was much better than Hanna Barbera's silly Super friends.
Why?

I stopped watching this show after season three. I've picked up a few episodes since then and nothing has changed. Clark and Lana get together, Clark and Lana realize they can never be together, Clark and Lana get together ... End it already.

Compared to Timm's Supes, Filmation's renditions looks like a stick figure animation, however I could stomach the late 60's series which was more canon thn Stuper Friends.Shit at least they had the balls to kill off Parasite, no way you would see that in SF. But Hanna gets props for the 60's FF cartoons. Now, that being said, I'm off to see IronMan with my fellow geeks.
Female villain could be...

"The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him." Sounds like Poison Ivy to me... if you remember the Batman: Hush story, the above description will sound familiar. She can control Superman.

seriously. think abotu what he's going to become, someone with the powers of a god who will constantly save the world. This isn't the comic books where Supes has literally said that he has powers so he'll save the world. It would take years to mentally come to that point where you would do such a thing. People don't think about this because Superman comics are so mediocre and that's why he's never been taken as seriously as many of Marvel's characters. Plus what a bunch of dumb fans superman has.

Because the WB movie devision was prepping what would become Batman Begins. So in season three they threw a wink and a nudge by naming Ian Somalader's charecter "Adam Knight" geddit? geddit?

Series Finale: Clark's first day in the suit, the world ends. Seconds before being swallowed by an energy wave, special guest star Jenna Jameson shows up, mentions something about "Earth-Prime" and a "Crisis" and drags Tom Welling into a portal. The series ends with the text: "Now Go Read Something, Morons."

Season 8 SHOULD be LEGION OF SUPERHEROES!!!

Perfect way to deal with no Lex, just send Clark to the future to deal with alien villains alongside the Legion of Superheroes--particularly good time since they just canned the animated show. Hey, give us Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad and Bouncing Boy and Cosmic Boy and Chameleon...boy, uh maybe don't use all those names. No really, they'd be a great change, and their "costumes" would be more space suits than anything else. And hey, you can still use Brianiac. It solves so many problems, and besides I thought they'd have done that by now instead of a fucking Krypton witch possessing Lana, or everyone BUT Clark leaving Smallville, or evil Zor-El(because anyone with a Z in their name must be evil) or Kara flying before Clark--and hey, he can fly without having the power naturally if he's in the Legion! Do whatever, this show is far from perfect, but then no live action Superman show ever has been that. I just think the no tights no flights rule was and remains utter shit. I can live without the tights, but I think this no flying stuff is the pits.

Then we could get an episode where American Idol comes to Smallville and Simon Cowell gets poisoned by kryptonite and becomes a super villain. As Randy Jackson would say, that would be mad hot, dawg!
That's a silly question, Dr. House.

...it's debatable if it ever was. It was rather monster of the week at first, and I don't think it was ever NEARLY as compelling as Buffy for example.

I've seen a FEW episodes I've enjoyed, but only because I'm a DC fanboy...as a whole, this show is clown shoes.

I bought Doomsday the cartoon thinking I would enjoy it as I did the comics about him and it was even worse than I could have ever imagined.. I don't see how Smallville will be able to do Doomsday justice unless since he isn't supposed to meet Clark until after Lois and him are married.. The only way I would buy this is if Clark gets sent to the future and he witnesses the battle between his future self and Doomsday in Metropolis and he has to stop Milton Fine from killing killing off the "dead" future Superman before the Eradicator excavates him from the tomb... This will be the only way I'll buy into the story.. Like Back to the Future...

Smallville is great, but while I was on line I saw the trailer for a new movie about a man who takes over the world. He had a pet pig and he was dressed in a military uniform. He made everyone happy. Did anyone else see it? it was called dictatormovie I think.

John Schneider - gone. Annette O'Toole - gone. John Glover - gone. Looks like Michael Rosenbaum finally rebelled, thought "Screw this, I won't be the one real actor in this show of antitalent", and made the good decision. Now that there are no actors left on this show, and even its designers ratted out, I wonder if it will even survive until 2009. I think not... or if it does, it will be until spring 2009, at most.

She took over Lexcorp in the comics, so it wouldn't be a stretch for her to take over in "Smallville". Of course, she could go by her real name: Talia al Ghul!

Rosenbaum was the best part of this show which has been on a sharp decline in the past few years. I really only feel like I watch because I have since the start. They need to cancel this show before it hits absolute rock bottom.

It is a possibility that if they do work Doomsday in, he could kill Clark and Chloe uses her power to save him, ultimately sacrificing herself for him. There is a reason that they gave Chloe that freak power.
