Why would they cut out that scene with Ryan trying to act cool when he couldn't put the top down in the car? Both of those scenes with Toby being jealous and passive-agressive were also very funny. They could have cut out one or two of the Pam's glasses jokes.

require an explaination, but not from him. That would be a spoiler. My personal theory, which I will not go into, involves some mix of Quantum Mechanics and a mysterious smoke monster. Maybe part of the post was actually a flash forward. . . . ? "Is this show STILL on?" Say what you want about the writer, but leave his suspensful thought-provoking content alone. I can't wait to see the next episode of his snark in the exciting talkback season finale . . .

Great episode last night! I am gonna throw something out here, and see what folks might think. I know Jenna was being coy about this in her myspace blog a few entries back, but did they just reveal the Office's spinoff last night?. When Pam was told at the graphic design table that there were great graphic design schools in New York and Philadelphia? Sure, there is The Art Institute of Philadelphia, but that was pretty specific, I mean, why not write the line to mention "New York and L.A." Everyone remember Jim's Second Life character, "Philly Jim," his sports columnist alter-ego. Maybe we were given very, very strong spinoff hints last night. It would be pretty groundbreaking to spinoff such strong characters from the show, as traditionally it has been supporting cast members, i.e., "Fish, Flo, Enos, Laverne and Shirley, The Tortellis, Joanie Loves Chachi" et cetera. I've even got a name for the show, how about "PB&J"? Catchy, huh? Pam Beesley and Jim = "PB&J" We'll see, but NBC could do worse than launching a spinoff with these two. The Office proper would surivive without missing a beat, especially by writing in a new receptionist, and maybe someone to fill Jim's role. Chew on that talkbackers!

They're overusing Kevin. The supporting characters are all funnier in small doses. See Creed last night ("We're going to ditch this bitch, you in?") or Toby last week with comments about Jim. As for the Philly stuff, I think that was more about them being in Pennsylvania than any real hint. The Office II or whatever it ends up being called should feature as few characters from this cast as possible so it can stand on its own merit. I wouldn't mind if they followed another company altogether.

But last night's episode was pretty blah. I love some of the little character things thrown in the background, like how Creed finished all his work months ago, but the big stories left me cold. I can't believe the writers didn't do something (anything) with Dwight and Angela being stuck in the office by themselves. There was so much potential there. And the golf course antics just didn't work. The whole "Kiss her" thing was just too creepy too. I'm hoping next weeks is as good as it looks.

And the show as a whole. The increasing parallel between Michael and Jim. You look at Jim continually bothering the client and standing in front of his car until he got a deal. This is EXACTLY something Michael would have done. You look at previous episodes as well, and you see the same parallels (like Jim buying a wedding ring after one date). They're making this so intentional and it's fantastic. Pam wants to be the best she can be, and she realizes that's going to mean moving to New York or Philadelphia, whereas Jim is only concerned about being the best WHERE HE IS, and not moving anywhere, and this is just what Michael has been doing all of his life. Jim is slowly becoming Michael, and this self destructive aspect of it is maybe my favorite part of the show this season, and ultimately more bleak than anything the British Office did. PLEASE tell me someone else has been picking up on these things.

Is it me or did Dwight and Angela possibly go somewhere after getting off work? I have a feeling the "pregnancy" angle we've been hearing about may stem from those two hooking up after last night's episode which we'll only hear about in the hour finale. And fanboy71, I agree with you. I feel this season took a nosedive following the strike. The writers either got out of their groove due to the strike or they're all so mad at the poor deal they did get that they've taken this show into cringeworthy territory on purpose.

The British Office had the same dynamic between Brent and Tim. See Tim's speech justifying his staying at the end of series one, quoting Brent almost word for word, and the look of horror on Dawn's face as she realises which road he's going down. Luckly he pulls it back when he realises what a dick he's becoming.
