The stories are good, but I don't like the way they draw Supes. He looks like a big baby. As for SV, it's always been hit or miss, but I don't think I've ever missed an episode. I'm sure I'll stay until the bitter end. This really should be the last season. And I at least better get one shot (preferably the last one) of him in the suit, or at least doing the shirt rip. Or I will have wasted 8 years of my life. Again.

I'm getting real sick of your continuous bashing on Heroes S2. It reads like you're trying to appeal to people who hated it more than anything else, which ruins your already minisicule amount of quality when it comes to reviews. And hating on Smallville's JL? That's insane, they were the best thing about S6 and the show's nailed Oliver Queen.

Personally, I loved the JL ep. On a geeky level, sure. For everything I dig about Heroes, JL just had this 'oh yeah? We started the superheroes TV run bitch, and guess what? TEAM-UP' vibe to it. But I've never hated a Smallville ep. It's good TV, even when it's mediocre.

Really is a good show...the cast are excellent and the arch is engaging...I really can't understand why this show is so underated especially when we talk about so much crap here...as for smallville...it is harmless fun tv...but it will surely end this season...they have done all they can and have lasted this long... well done to the smallville team but alas, its time for something new...

I know they have referenced Clark's "fear of heights" at different points in the show, so I am sure someone is going to say his inability to fly is psychological. As to the costume, that is going to be the very last episode of the very last season, where the season-long arc has been wrapped up, someone says something about "destiny", close up of Clark deep in thought, and then he opens a trunk, we see the familiar "S", and then the camera is going to pan up into the sky.

Every year, I hope they cancel Smallville so I don't have to hold out hope they fix it. Since the end of season 5, I've been begging for its being put out to pasture. After fucking everything up so tremendously over the last couple years, I don't see how it's even possible to have a sufficient finale. And Michael Rosenbaum appears as if he's not coming back at all, as per Ausiello at EW, so it's good the last we've seen of him is learning Clark's secret and then just mysteriously disappearing. I sincerely wonder on shows like this how the writers have jobs. And I don't mean that in a malicious way at all. I just don't understand how upper brass can put up with inconsistent character development, nonsensical plots, and declining ratings.

Eh, the comic-book Doomsday couldn't work onscreen for more than a two-parter. I give them some leeway that Bloome is likely going to become part of Doomsday's backstory (in that he gradually becomes Doomsday.) Sort of the reverse arc to Clark, in that a good man is going to become a monster.

It's great to see Allison Mack finally billed second where she belongs. But this does sound all too much like a total retcon and isntead of getting the Clark and Chloe romance we've always deserved since Chloe has always been the real Lois of the show, we get more awful Erica Durance whose ego and publicity seeking knows no bounds. I have loved the story of Superman and Lois Lane for over fifty years and I can't stand ED as Not-Lois. She's a terrible actress and grating in her constant attempts to make herself seem bigger and better than she is. Her recent attempt to claim lead status and nominate herself for an emmy was bad enough and now she just won't shut up. I have no interest in watching Not-Lois and Clark. Even though I love Tom Welling and Allison Mack, Michael Rosenbaum should be there and they should be finishing up the story they claimed they would tell years ago. That story doesn't need an untalented hack actress like ED or the nonsense of Chloe getting more powers and stuck in a pathetic relationship with Jimmy Olsen. Chloe has always been the smart girl who supports Clark when no one else will. She is everythign the real Lois from the comics and movies and TV has always been and she is the only one we want to see back at a restored-to-legitimate-glory Daily Planet at the job she earned alongside Clark. And for the record, Clark is not qualified to be a reporter at the Daily Planet since he has expressed no interest or gained further experience in reporting since high school. This is all lightswitching of Clark and shoehorning Nois into a job she never earned since she got hired for her looks and not her talent. It's the worst kind of writing and Smallville should have ended long before they tried to shove this crap down our throats. This old Superman fan is thoroughly disgusted.

I haven't read the plots to tonights episodes, but one has "The Gang Goes CSI", when a turd is found in Charlie and Frank's bed...CAN NOT WAIT!!! I am the next president of the US. I am old and I have liked Superman ever since I was a little boy. My vice presidential pick, Sarah, likes Wonder Woman, because she is a girl and cant relate to all that boy stuff. She likes to bake cookies for her little baby, who cant eat yet. But she likes to bake cookies, when she isnt slapping around the rest of her kids for calling her "Tina" behind her back. This show is so gosh darn awful, I pooped my pants twice once while watching it. Cindy said "you think the show is so full of crap, you made me change your diaper twice during it." Cindy, my wife, friends, is a nice person. She helped me get over my first wife when I dumped her for being more cripple than me. So when I am President, it will be my first priority to get this show off the air. It is some kinda liberal interpretation of Superman, but nobody every wears any supersuits or nothing like the comic books. This show is almost as bad as my other hero "W-Man's" first two terms. I plan on making his third term his, er, I mean MY best term yet. But anyway, I want to talk about the Legion of Superheros because I like them too, because Superboy was in the Legion, my friends. But, why is it that so many peple are starting to not like me, just because I like to lie a lot - like you guys know that I learned to lie to lie a lot to my captors, back when I didnt have any homes or a table or a bed, but I liked to hang around the camp a lot, get it? People like me because I can tell a good joke, like that one about the girl who like being raped by that gorilla, or was it an ape? anyway, she was raped by a gorilla, but wanted more, get it? So, that is why I dont like people with slits for eyes because they always wanted me to tell them secrets and stuff, so I made up a bunch of lies to tell them, and I guess I just got sort of used to it. I have a friend who likes to watch this show because he has a weird thing for girls who look a little goo..., er , that is a little like Orientals. he keeps watching it because of that one girl who looks a little like the people who I now dont like a lot because of what they did to me back when we were in that other war I cant remember why we were in, the war that gave me such a mean temper and Corleone cheeks. So I asked him if he watched "Samurai Girl" and he said "yup, all of it" and he meant the first six hours. I said "really, I couldn't make it past the first 5 minutes" and he said "it wasnt very good, but it did have it's moments." I guess he meant "when there was a pretty chin..., er, I mean, Samaurai Girl on screen, then I felt all squosshy inside and kept wanting to watch more if it." So now, whenever I think about the economy, I do a really big doody in my diaper and Cindy just smiles and goes "I love you" all over me with her handi-wipes. So my question is, are they gonna put the Legion of Superheroes", who aren't going to be from the future but are going to be a bunch of society's rejects, like i guess they're gonna be on welfare or whatever, and Clark is going to see one of them, maybe, I hope Bouncing Boy, who will have no powers other than being fat, which is why I love America so much my friends, because so many of us are fatty fat overweighters, and all of you heroes in my book, and Bouncing Boy will knock out a shoplifter with his wits and his fat, and Clark will see this and like Bouncing Boy a lot. No, not like that! And then Bouncing Boy will invite Clark back to his clubhouse in the shape of a rocketship (not that that shaspe means anything) because the Legion is a bunch of Sci-Fi worshipping nerds who dont have jobs. So then Clark will take a look at all of the legion of misfits and ask them a simple questions, "So, where do you guys get your superhero outfits, Target or Wal-Mart." and then after giving Clark a "what the F" look, they will all break into loud laughter. Lighting Lad, who can shoot electricity into any I-Pod, temporarily disabling it, will say, no you big dope, Wal-Mart." More laughs all around. Clark will get them all jobs at Wal-Mart, join the legion and proclaim, "Thank you my friends, for getting jobs, because you are the fundamenals of the economy and the economy is strong, just like me and my super powers. Anyone want to go shopping?" Freeze frame. Start of new TV franchise. mid-season replacement. Thank you my friends, and vote for me and Sara, because one good lie deserves another. (how's this for random): I think in a natural fight CHRISTIAN BALE could kick the shit out of TOM WELLING. of course, Bale beats Welling in acting chops too (duh), and I would LOVE to see BALE's BATMAN take on WELLING's SUPERMAN... the battle would be epic, and SUPERMAN WOULD FALL. there's a SUPERMAN sequel for you: SUPERMAN FALLS!!! where we get to watch Batman take all his (and our) aggressions out on Superman. I've read the BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN script by Andrew Kevin Walker (guy who wrote SEVEN) and it's great. I'd love to see that one dusted off, tweaked to fit today's characters, made modern, etc. and then set lose with a WELLING/ROUTH Supes... of course, my feelings are that they should SOLIDLY FINISH THE NOLAN BATMANS first -- make it a solid TRILOGY free of superman, etc. by the way, do I (or any of us) need to mention that SMALLVILLE SUCKS? yeah it's pretty bad, on like, a lot of levels. in the way that the Star Wars Prequels slowly drained me of my love for StarWars, SMALLVILLE is systematically bleeding my love of Superman... it's forcing me to "leave childish things behind..." man I hope that someone comes along and makes a great SUPERMAN movie so we can show the world again that he's cool. ahh... here's dreamin'. even SUPERMAN FLYBY woulda been better than the crap of Smallville.

screwed up was deciding to make it a show about Clark and not about Superman (or Clark AND Superman). I'm not a regular viewer (I think I only saw one episode last season) so I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the character Superman was never actually in the show. The character we saw was always just Clark and each show was about teen or young-adult Clark dealing with (mostly trivial) issues as 'Clark Kent'. Actually, it wasn't a bad idea to start the series this way and to show some of the 'human' mental and emotional issues that Clark/Superman has to struggle with but 7 seasons of teen whining has limited entertainment value and was a creative mistake. There's a reason why the comics are called 'Superman' and not 'Clark' or for that matter 'Lois and Clark' (how the heck did Lois get top billing over Clark in that show?). 'Clark' and the issues that Clark deals with just aren't that exciting compared to the issues that Superman would have to deal with as Superman. The best parts of the show that I remember are when Clark was acting like Superman-ish dealing with extraordinary situations. The other major mistake was targeting the show to the tween/teen market. I can understand why they did it but creatively, it was the wrong thing to do. The issues, the expectations, the maturity, the type of problems, how problems are solved, how characters talk and act and relate to each other etc are much more varied and interesting as adults. Make the show about Superman and make the issues in each show worthy of Superman. And make Clark's issues about the problems being Superman and not about being Clark Kent. And keep it smart, not campy or dumbed down. That would really be something worth seeing. Oh, and better writers will help too. I hope the new creative team push this show in the right direction.

its never been very good. it was decent during the first season, in spite of its VOTW format. since then its been this slow, gradual decline into crapitude, with a few speckles of good tv thrown in here and there. but overall, this show has kind of always sucked, and thats coming from a loyal viewer since the pilot. ive always kind of known this show sucked. i think i just stuck with it out of habit. like an old friend who you're not quite sure why you're friends with anymore. but its time for it to die. i just hope it can at least go out with a bang. or a poof. or something other than ".....really?"

SMALLVILLE has displayed Clark Kent/Superman/Lex Luthor in a better more exciting way than any film ever has. Lex is the Lex from the comics (Michael Rosenbaum has done a phenomenal job) and Clark fights people and has a destiny and has "Superman" moments that put the films to shame. I have to admit that this season's openers for both shows were pretty decent...though I much preferred Supernatural. Hate to disagree with you Shermdawg, but the new Ruth is to the old Ruth what...well take one of the comparisons above and past it here. I have a couple of gripes about the end of Smallville, though. Even though things look like they'll be different, I hate the fact that the "reset" button was hit on last season's finale. I know some things have changed, but the great damage that was supposed to happen was happily fixed in 40-something minutes, and Jor-El's control scheme overcome in, oh, a few seconds plus one commercial. And, who the fuck would hire Clark Kent to be a reporter for their paper? By all rights he should be asking other characters if they want that super-sized. Also, what's the big deal about having to find Lex just because he knows about Clark's powers? And how did these lines follow logically: "We need to split up." "We? Careful Clark, next thing you know you'll be wearing a home-spun costume with a giant 'S' on it." Huh?

Yeah, one of the demons said it was something "cosmic". Something they'd never seen before. I got the feeling it was having to concentrate real hard to see and maintain a focus on something as insignificant as Dean.

Smallville seems to always have a good season opener then fall back into the boring mutant of the week formula. This one had promise with Clark FINALLY working for the Daily Planet and Green Arrow mentioning a dual identity (and Clark considering it). Now if only they actually DO something with it. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Reaper kicks all kinds of ass. The second half of the season was phenomenal. Don't be a hater. Burn Notice finale was great last night too. The scene where Michael called Lesher at 3am while Fiona watched him sent chills up, down, and around my spine.

Trying to ask this non-spoilery, and if someone can answer without ruining it for anyone who may not have seen it yet... I think I missed a few minutes by not turning back when I looked away during commercials. When Clark... left... and everyone was still in the facility, did it show what happened with everyone, or did it just come back to him in the barn and you have to guess what happened?

if martian manhunter lost his powers taking clark so close to the sun, how the eff did they get back to earth? as for the supernatural "demons are fallen angels" business melvin, i'm fairly certain that's not the way it is in the supernatural mythology. it seems like SN's demons are evil souls that have been to hell and back, either escapees or perhaps dispatched by satan to earth. there are people who believe in angels, but as dean said in "faith" and "houses of the holy", no one's ever seen or found any real evidence of angels actually existing. well, until now. as for the brother vs brother showdown, i think (hope) that's where it's heading. and it really shouldn't be that big of a surprise, after all, ol' yellow eyes has told sam on numerous occasions that he is going to lead the demon army. fuck, i can't stop thinking about how good supernatural is... i was a little surprised that i didn't hate smallville's premiere, considering it's been nearly unwatchable for seasons 6 and 7 and the latter part of season 5 and it hasn't been really good since season 3... although the show always seems to have decent premieres. they finally addressed why the fuck clark hasn't introduced j'onn to the rest of the league... i'm not sure i like this tess chick, mostly because we've never heard or seen her yet lex trusts her enough to say "here ya go bitch, here's my company"... i'm far from sold on the idea of doomsday, but i guess we'll have to wait until next week to see about that... um what else? oh yeah, whoever said mitch pileggi will be on supernatural next week is mistaken. his episode will be episode 3 or 4 (i can't remember which).

I was wondering about the same exact thing. And, as for Supernatural, I actually didn't think about the brother vs. brother until I read this TB. I guess I figured they would pull a Smallville and have everyone think, initially, that everyone is the enemy but they all fight on the same side in the end sort of thing. Now that I think of it, the brother vs. brother idea is better. The more I think of it, the more I realize how brilliant a season premiere, let alone an episode in general, it was. Instead of a "let's find Dean" opener that would lead to a boring, "bring-Buffy-back-to-life" story arc (and we all know how easily that can kill a season)they took him outta hell in the first minute and left an even greater mystery. And the angel business: brilliant! I've had my problems with the show in the past, but it really is a pretty much consistent show in terms of quality.

Charlie Murphy is mistaken. The demons in Supernatural are fallen angels. One told Dean as much last season when they were trapped in a basement together. She explained that they were cast out of Heaven and that they were always trying to get to Earth because Hell is so awful. Given this, it makes no sense that Dean still doesn't believe. He's just being stubborn at this point. Ruby was of the minority as a human who sold her soul to a demon, went to Hell and became one herself. I think the demon in the diner was so hysterical because it had perhaps never seen a reigning angel, like Ruby can't have. The yellow eyed demon said that Meg and that other guy were his children. Maybe some of them were conceived after the Fall. It shouldn't be a problem for an angel to journey into Hell and collect a soul. It's not like he's condemned. Only the Fallen can't get out (very easily).

I think Sam and Dean might be at different starting points but will arrive at the same conclusion. This season might be about redeeming Ruby. I'd like to know how last season was supposed to play out, if the writers strike hadn't interfered.

They mentioned that the old badass demons are, like Lucifer, but noone ever saw one of those. The demons here are old, tortured souls, with their humanity burned away. Satan and fallen angels are a myth among demons. At least that's what they said in one episode. That's why Dean feared hell. He feared he would become one of them eventually (see the dream episode.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't necessarily say that they're setting it up so that there will be a battle between Dean and Sam. Sam doesn't seem remotely evil right now. His power removes demons from the host's body and destroys them. Wouldn't that be an ability of someone working on the side of good? Anyway, the premiere might've been the best episode yet. That was thoroughly entertaining. I really like Castiel, but I'm unsure about this new Ruby. I don't know how often she'll be popping up, anyway. I'm definitely excited about this season and where it's headed. As for "Smallville", don't people ever get tired of complaining about the show? If you don't like it, it's simple. Don't watch it. I know it's not as good as it used to be (What show is after 8 years?), but I still enjoy it and I liked the premiere. Clark should be at the Daily Planet at this point, I'm glad Allison Mack has second billing, and that Lana is finally gone. It was also a smart move to add Green Arrow to the cast. It isn't the same w/o Lex, but what more could they have done w/ his character? I actually miss Lionel more. What I'm hoping for is at least one reappearance of Mrs. Kent and Supergirl this season, and I want to see Perry White come back and become the DP editor. Don't know why people are always bitching about "Smallville" deviating from the comics. This show, like every other incarnation of the Superman story, is putting their own spin on it. It's always been a reinvention of Superman's mythology. How could they possibly follow the comics exactly? There are so many different versions of Superman's story. It was clear from the beginning that this show was doing their own thing, since they created a brand new character, Chloe Sullivan, who had never been a part of Clark's history before.

I'm sorry but to me thats just a fact. The opening flashback set to ACDC's Shook me all night long,set to images of the boys being fucking badasses...Damn i'm gay over this fucking show and i don't even know how it happened. It took me two seasons to get into it and now it just seems primed to kick major ass. Dean Winchester is like a cross between John Maclane and the comic version of Constantine,and the shit with Sam is starting to make sense. I love the idea of God stepping in to even the odd's for the boys,but it seems to me like this "Angel" will probably end up being Lucifer before the seasons over with. I know i'm being a gushing fanboy with this post but I have to say that anyone seriously comparing this show to Charmed is a moron. Besides the fact that Charmed's "mythology" was all over the map from show to show, SN has two guys driving a badass car,shooting demons and monsters with shotguns and looking at porn in there spare time(props to Dean on his choice of magazine this week.If I just got out of hell i'd be looking for pussy as well) and being overall bad asses. I'm just a seriously sick fan of this show right now.

It's bad enough already that Supernatural is seen as a show for teen girls, while in fact it's not that kind of show at all. Anyone calling this show a Buffy ripoff never saw the show in the first place. After the season 4 premiere of Supernatural I can safely say, that Buffy is supremely inferior compared to Supernatural. Perry White was not the Chief for the Planet, nor was he even WORKING for the Planet... he was a former Planet employee who (at the end of the show) was sober and hell bent on getting his job at the Planet back.... I stopped being REALLY interested in this show 2 years ago, but I still turn it on in the faint hope that something awesome happens... sadly this is the same way I feel about HEROES now.

to be the worst season ever. It's now officially a show for 12 year olds. The caviar skit certainly treated us like idiots. What was that? Does Superman exist in the same world as Axel Foley's? And now we have a fem Lex with no screen presence! This had better not be a semi-reboot with rubbish fem Lex going through the same crap we have been seeing for the last 8 years. I'll give it 5 episodes and that's it because that was utter shit.
