I rarely attend these types of events. Mainly because a studio gathers a large amount of Journalists into a room – they’re all shown the exact same footage and then you run to a computer to “BE FIRST” to post the book report retelling of what you just saw.
I suppose it is the job, it is the gig we’re all so lucky to have, but what about THINKING and CONSIDERING the footage, what was said and what it means to me as a viewer of said footage.
Let me gather up some of the comments I’ve found online, to get the overall sense of coverage from Fellow Online Journalistas…

Hey folks, Harry here – This is a day late due to my New York travel and family from out of town, hope you’ll still enjoy it. As always if you click on the title or the box art you’ll be taken magically to Amazon where you can learn more on the title in question and if you’re feeling the urge, you can purchase it and a small portion will go to support the efforts of this column to continue to bring you the best from the land of home video. Here ya go…

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
So... have you heard that Spike Jonze is making a film out of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE?
If you forgot, you’re not to blame. The film was originally announced a few years ago, and then set for an October ’08 release, and then... well... that didn’t happen. And it didn’t happen for a variety of reasons, which all basically boil down to “it wasn’t ready.”

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here.
I’ve been a big fan of Mr. Danny Boyle’s work since TRAINSPOTTING and was even one of the only people, seemingly, to dig the hell out of A LIFE LESS ORDINARY. So when the opportunity to sit down with him as he came through Austin promoting his newest, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, I jumped at the chance.

Oh I love this James Bond.
I sat down today to watch CASINO ROYALE in Blu-Ray, then drove across town for the sold out midnight show of QUANTUM OF SOLACE. It seems that nobody at Sony particularly wanted me to see this film early, but that’s alright – this audience was holy shit great to see the movie with.
But you don’t want to hear about the audience, or the new trailers for STAR TREK, WATCHMEN or THE SPIRIT that we saw. No – you turned to this page to see where I come down on QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

Boiled down to its influences, Paul McGuigan's PUSH is essentially a hybrid of X-MEN and THE FURY. It is the story of extra-abled misfits who are pursued all over the globe by nefarious government types (and their own extra-abled foot soldiers) who are keen to weaponize their powers.

Hey folks, Harry here… On Time this week and I hope you enjoy it, there’s some really good stuff this week, and I’ll let you get to it, so I can finally go to sleep… ugh… As usual, the box art and titles are linked to their corresponding AMAZON page where you can learn more about the title in question and/or purchase it. If you do purchase it at Amazon through a link, you should know that you’re going to support this column with a small portion of that price, so by all means… Help America’s Economy! Here ya go…

Hey folks, Harry here... Every now and again we get something cooler than Ain't It Cool should be permitted to be. Today is one of those days! I'm sure a lot of you know and love THE FLAMING LIPS... and still less of you know about their gloriously bizarre and awesome film, CHRISTMAS ON MARS!!! Actually, if you're a FLAMING LIPS fan, there's no way you don't know about it. But just in case, here's the trailer:

Hey folks, Harry here… This past week has been crazy for me. I’ve been recovering from a crazy Halloween party, an awesome Election night and working on a lot of stuff regarding Forrest Ackerman. But the hardest part has frankly been concentrating. My liberal brain has been in overkill with Election mania since Obama got elected and I have been absolutely addicted to reading every article every where.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here. Halloween started early in my house this year, and I guess it’s ending a little late. Fine by me.
I’m a big ol’ horror nerd, so it’s always a big holiday for me anyway. And Toshi’s three now, and this is his third big Halloween out and about, in costume, with his best trick’r’treatin’ buddy, Frannie. It’s honestly one of my favorite nights of the year, and it gets better each year as Toshi and Frannie get more and more into it.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Darren Aronofsky’s best movie. Easily.
That’s the short answer.
Mickey Rourke’s awesome. And for the first time in a long time, I mean that in a specific and not a general way.

OBAMA IS PRESIDENT! I'm really damn happy right now! Hope you are too!
Hey folks, Harry here... I VOTED with my beard off! That's how serious I am about voting this time out! That's right, I shaved my precious bit of second chin fur, just so I'd be an extra bit clean cut for this election.
Ok - technically it was for my Halloween costume, I was the Indian killer from BODY DOUBLE (photos at my Facebook or Myspace.) But I purposefully did not grow it back out for the Election. Ahem.

Hey folks, Harry here... I spoke briefly with Forrest J Ackerman earlier today, he wasn't sounding very strong, it hurt to hear his voice knowing that it wouldn't be here with us much longer. But at the same time, it was nice to say goodbye to one another.

Hey folks, Harry here - Man this new web interface sure does make putting groups together difficult and really makes everyone stand out as individuals first and foremost - so this really made everyone stand out and alone for the first time. Also, the themed photos were hilarious and awesome. Amazing how inventive so many of you were. This year's yearbook will be the best yet. And I believe the whole THEMED images will become a standard from here on. Just cuz... it's that much fun. Now - if you don't see your name below - and you submitted from the Austin Area - take hope.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Is it really time for the AFI Film Festival in Hollywood again? I thought these things were only once a year.
Oh... they are?
Damn, that year went fast. It seems like I just spent ten days or so mainlining movies at the Arclight very recently, but starting tomorrow, Oct. 30th, with the gala premiere screening of John Patrick Shanley’s DOUBT, the festival is back in full swing and offering up one of its strongest overall line-ups yet.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a last minute chat I had with Paul Giamatti today. I was told going into the chat that Giamatti wanted to talk to AICN on the record and announce something regarding Don Coscarelli’s follow-up to his great indie hit BUBBA HO-TEP.
You might remember this film being teased at the end of the credits… Elvis will return in BUBBA NOSFERATU!

Hey Folks, Harry here - I've got my galoshes on and I'm ready for the flood of BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 10 applications - No matter how much time I give folks, it's always that final 24 hours that brings on a Tsunami. The flood has already begun, and it seems that folks have been busy building props, doing amazing costumes or just thinking of funny & ironic situations under which to be photographed. And it seems BANGS are in for girl geeks that read AICN... I have to say... it is very nice.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a very, very long chat I recently had with Jon Favreau. We talk about a lot of things, but the main focus is the current and future state of Marvel Productions and what’s in store for us with IRON MAN 2.
Since this is so long, I’m going to break it up into two pieces. You can find the second part linked at the bottom of this one.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Yes, I am totally in the bag for Charlie Kaufman, and I don’t care who knows it.
Why wouldn’t I be? Here’s a guy who survived the sitcom jungle and has emerged as a truly original voice in modern screenwriting, working with some of the most innovative directors of the moment to craft a series of burnished gems that I think have genuinely helped push the art of film forward at a time when studios have retreated into an infantile haze of remakes and comic books and video games and 20-years-later sequels.

Hey folks, Harry here with the last DVD TUESDAY before ELECTION DAY TUESDAY – when we’ll all be glued to our sets celebrating or crying profusely. For now, it’s just another Tuesday of DVDs – and I’m getting these out a little early, due to my ambitious Halloween party line-up here at Geek Headquarters.

Hey folks, Harry here... I've decided to provide you good folks with some fun Halloween Entertainment to lead up to the big day. I was clicking around myself and decided to assemble the music videos, cartoons and whatnots and put them in one place so I could just watch them all myself - and why not share with you? After all, it is just so much fun to find these cool pieces and put them together, as I found them. Enjoy...

Hey folks, Harry here - I had sent Tim League off to the Island chain of Ponga to meditate upon the brilliance that will be BUTT-NUMB-A-THON X - that's Roman for 10, he tells me and not the rating for the festival... though, you never know.

Hey folks, Harry here with this week’s DVD PICKS AND PEEKS. Fun stuff to be had – lots of gamma happening here, along with some great silents & looney tunes. As always, by clicking on the box art or the titles, you’ll be sent to Amazon where you can learn more on the title in question, or you could purchase it, which would help to sponsor this column and it’s ongoing search for cool shit for all of us. Let’s get on with it, shall we…

Hey folks, Harry here... It's so strange doing this particular BUTT-NUMB-A-THON announcement. It's my 10th one. I've done 9 1/2 BNAT announcements prior to this - and doing the TENTH one... It just feels different.
