I can’t sleep. I’m drunk in love with HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY and it really is everything I could have wanted it to be.
For years, Guillermo has been a wildly schizophrenic filmmaker – making brilliant intimate art genre films with CRONOS, DEVIL’S BACKBONE & PAN’S LABYRINTH… while also making Studio pictures that are… perhaps infused with approximately 45% of the potential glorious madness that Guillermo could have given them… MIMIC, BLADE II & the first HELLBOY.
Hey folks, Harry here... I haven't had much sleep recently - given that Convergence had me dozing at 5am, 7am, 6am and 4am on consecutive nights - with early days after each.... and today was no different - getting about 5 hours, and now it's 4:35am and I'm just getting home from this wondrous night. I'll work to compose my thoughts about the film later today, but HELLBOY 2 is all at once joyous, wondrous, stunningly beautiful, melancholic and funny... and somehow the tones all work together. There's just one scene that felt odd to me, but I'll talk about it in my full review.
Hey folks, Harry here - This HELLBOY 2 event is really going to be something. Rush to the Fantastic Fest site - get a badge for an amazing weeklong festival and a free screening of HELLBOY 2 to kick your mighty ass. Everyone that's cool says it's the happy finish you're looking for!
Fantastic Fest and AICN present Guillermo del Toro live with Hellboy II, July 8
Hey folks, Harry here... I wish there was more of this sort of thing. Hellboy on late night talkshows just shooting the shit in character - talking about his acting process in the movie versus real life paranormal detecting. Well here's a glimpse of that kind of fun...
Hey folks, Harry here again - this time with Guillermo's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel - I know we don't usually post talk show performances - but dammit - he talks about Hobbit and Hellboy - but more than that - it gives you a taste of why Guillermo is the cutest guy ever:
Well, you can, thanks to the folks over at the LA Film Festival. This is the actual premiere of HELLBOY 2, with cast and crew and other celebrities in attendance, but it’s also going to be open to a very few people as part of a special limited offer. 20 people are going to be able to buy tickets through a link offered exclusively here at 10:00 AM PST this morning. The first 20 get the tickets, and then the link goes dead. If there are more available later, I’ll update and let you know.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The NYCC sounded like a blast this year. Maybe I'll be on the ground covering it next year.
Anyway, we have some in-depth looks at the Lucasfilm, Wanted and Hellboy 2 panels, including updates on all of Guillermo del Toro's rumored projects and pics to go along with everything! Enjoy!
Hi Harry,
I attended the New York Comic Con this past weekend and a few of the bigger panels (Lucasfilm, Wanted, Hellboy 2) with it so thought I'd report in.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Guillermo Del Toro and I go back a very long time. I remember Harry introducing me to him when I was all of 17 years old, in the time between MIMIC and BLADE 2 when he was living here in Austin.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. A lot of what I saw on my set visit last October has made it into the trailer... my particular favorite being the new Doug Jones creature - The Angel of Death... You'll need to click on him to see the trailer for HELLBOY 2... I really dig the trailer, especially that great monstrocity at the end. Fantastic and a tad cartoony, but still somehow of that world. Enjoy the trailer!
Hey folks, Harry here... FInally HELLBOY 2 has a presence online beyond the descriptions of bloggers.... but actual designs that give us a glimpse at the world that Guillermo and Mignola and a team of amazing artists have been working on. My recommendation is to instantly head to the GALLERY area - beautiful work is on display there:
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm just finished catching up on email after the big ol' TRANSFORMERS Robosaurus screening. I don't think I'm going to write a review for that... It's been covered a lot already and I spent a lot of time on that set, dealing with the filmmakers directly, etc. Honestly, if I felt I had something more to add to what's been said already, I would still write up my thoughts, but look no further than Moriarty's great review for my impressions. I will say that more than anything I want to see a sequel. Keep the same team, give the writers a little more time to flesh out their script and start everything rocking from frame one.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some news on the cast of HELLBOY 2.
We already know Ron Perlman is back, as well as Selma Blair. Now Guillermo has spoken out to deltorofilms.com and commented on who else is returning and some new faces that have been cast. There is at least one returning cast member that took me by surprise... I wouldn't go so far as to say there are spoilers below, but you will know a neat little surprise if you read it.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little tidbit that hit yesterday about Guillermo Del Toro's HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY.
He's reached back into his cache and pulled in Luke Goss to play a villain in the sequel. Goss played the main baddie, Nomak, in BLADE 2. I guess any sequel Guillermo directs has to have this guy as a baddie. It's in his contract.
Goss plays Prince Nuada, who commands an army of deadly creatures.
All the other major characters return, including Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz Sherman and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with something very spoilerish for you HELLBOY fans out there. I loved the film, myself... That entire opening with the Nazis rocked my world. So great. I thought the whole film was awesome, but I'm a sucker for Ron Perlman,
Hey folks, Harry here... Guillermo Del Toro - just can't quit on HELLBOY 2. And yes, that is a very "Brokeback" statement. Guillermo's love for the big red guy, brought him back from the clutches of development hell.
That HELLBOY 2 will ca
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little info for us HELLBOY lovers. Ron Perlman kicks unholy amounts of ass as that huge red demon and Guillermo del Toro loves the character to a very creepy level. I've seen Guillermo perform disgusting acts involvin
Hey folks, Harry here... Apparently there is proof that there is a grand design to the universe we live in, because... HELLBOY 2 IS CONFIRMED!!!! I don't know about you, but I really wanted a sequel... specifically, I'm wanting a film, where He
