Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
2008, for better or for worse, will be remembered as the year the superhero genre on film proved its longevity and its elasticity, and I think next year’s arrival of WATCHMEN has the potential to be perfectly timed.
If it works. No pressure, Zack.

Perhaps I'm an amoral gun-loving juvenile prick, but I enjoyed the hell out of WANTED.
The first time I saw the film I had a few issues with the movie. I wasn't fond of Elfman's score, I thought the movie drug a bit in the middle, but damn if I didn't have fun with it.

It's a bit of a stretch, but the bullet-curving, dome-popping, morality-flouting shenanigans so kinetically depicted in WANTED could be charitably explained away as a metaphor for young male empowerment. By wantonly murdering complete strangers at the whim of a fate-weaving loom (not a metaphor, unfortunately), James McAvoy's timid working stiff, Wesley Gibson, is simply engaging in a very bloody form of self-actualization. He's seizing the day by squeezing the trigger. Pol Pot would approve. In fact, if Pol Pot were still with us, he'd probably have a new favorite movie.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was watching The Daily Show on Monday and they had James McAvoy on. Jon Stewart told him that WANTED was a movie that should suck, but doesn’t.
I thought then and there that I couldn’t really explain it any better than that.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here with the alphabetical list of winners (200 folks in all, give or take) for the blowout WANTED screening tomorrow night, Thursday, July 19, 7pm, AMC River East Theater. I got some fantastic lists of favorite action films--some very creative, some bleeding obvious, and some of you need to watch movies made before 1995…that's all I'm saying.

Hey folks, Harry here - and ya know... on JUNE 27th - there are two... totally different film experiences awaiting you - I saw WALL*E tonight... and on June 19th - I'll be seeing WANTED. I'm on record as hoping and praying that WANTED is the great big surprise of the summer. I'm drunk in love with Timur Bekmambetov's visual style from his Russian films NIGHT WATCH and DAY WATCH. I think we all love James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and Terence Stamp.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love this redband trailer trend that's going on with Quicktime and iTunes. HD redband trailers make me happy and from what I understand this is the way that we can get them in this quality without the MPAA's iron hand stopping it from being released online.

Hey folks, Harry here... WANTED is the monkey on the back of Summer 2008 for me. It's the movie that I want to have blow peoples' minds... none moreso than my own. We've got a pretty charming summer going so far... Word on the HULK is... incredible (sorry), WALL*E is going to be a golden god, HELLBOY 2 is apparently an ass whipping waiting to be unleashed and then there's THE DARK KNIGHT - which nobody has seen, but we all know is gonna steamroll us. We hear that HANCOCK is mediocre - but I still want it to kick ass - but the word has yet to turn on that film...

Hey folks, Harry here... AB King just sent in this link - for a trailer on WANTED that is... literally... fucking awesome. And it is just so aggravating that it is the exact sort of trailer that the film needs, but would never be approved by the MPAA for showing to all audiences... and man, I'd put this trailer on KUNG FU PANDA and watch the brains melt. Notice - this trailer doesn't show a lame geeky kid barely keeping paces with an Uber-Angelina... No.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The NYCC sounded like a blast this year. Maybe I'll be on the ground covering it next year.
Anyway, we have some in-depth looks at the Lucasfilm, Wanted and Hellboy 2 panels, including updates on all of Guillermo del Toro's rumored projects and pics to go along with everything! Enjoy!
Hi Harry,
I attended the New York Comic Con this past weekend and a few of the bigger panels (Lucasfilm, Wanted, Hellboy 2) with it so thought I'd report in.

Hey folks, Harry here with the latest trailer for WANTED - the first American film from the Russian director of NIGHTWATCH & DAYWATCH... it's a Comic Adaptation - that is very different from the book, but I have to say... I really dig the look and feel of the film and I'm hoping it kicks ass. Here's the new trailer:

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with my first ever report from WonderCon.

Today was a fun, full day. It started off with an early morning run to Emeryville that had me exploring the Pixar grounds and seeing the first 35 minutes of WALL-E… And… It was great, but I can’t say any more than that now. Hopefully the embargo will be lifted soon and I can spill my copious guts.

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm a huge fan of Timur Bekmambetov - the director of the Russian spectaculars... NIGHTWATCH & DAYWATCH - and WANTED is going to be his first English Language film, as well as his first Studio film and I have to say -I'm really excited about it. The look of the film is gorgeous - and I think the end results will be truly amazing. At least I'm hoping.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. WANTED's all over the net this week. First the stills now the trailer. I like the look of the trailer, but the early word we've been hearing about the film is it does not share much in common with Mark Millar's original graphic novel. If it's fun, then I guess that's all that matters... Here's the trailer:

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I am recently returned from a trip to Budapest to watch a night of shooting on HELLBOY II, so I can confirm pretty much everything our new spy has to say about the project.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm not familiar with the graphic novel WANTED, but apparently Timur Bekmambetov (the Russian NIGHT WATCH films) is as he's directing an adaptation of it over at Universal Pictures. It has a great cast so far... Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman are the first to join up.
The story is about a young man who realizes his father is an assassin. Of course, he realizes this just before his dad is murdered and has to take it upon himself to continue the family business. Jolie will be training him in the arts of killing.
